Park of Military History in Pivka is a museum tourist centre in the complex of old barracks in Pivka.
The barracks were built by the Kingdom of Italy around 1930 to defend the Rapallo border, and in the years 1945–1991 they housed the Yugoslav People’s Army. Since 2004, the Park of Military History has been developing here, which has become the largest museum complex in Slovenia and also one of the largest military history complexes in this part of Europe. Several important and extremely interesting exhibitions and collections are on display.
The most interesting are the exhibition about the creation of the Slovenian state and the war for its independence in 1991, and the tank, artillery and aircraft collection and the submarine as one of the largest exhibits are also of particular interest.
