Starting in the village of Razdrto in the Podnanos region, the Jelen cycling trail leads across Laže along a macadam path past wild karst caves and through a green forest to one of the most famous historical museums in Slovenia, the Military History Park.
Here you can have refreshments in their restaurant Kantina before driving further through Pivka towards Klenik. In the spring and autumn, you will admire the intermittent lakes of Pivka while driving through Trnje, Petelinje and Slovenska vas, and in the winter and summer you can visit the Ecomuseum.
“Slavina is a big and beautiful village”, wrote Valvasor, it is important and famous mainly because of its church (old parish), which boasts an 800-year-old tradition and reputation. The route is also suitable for all lovers of horseback riding, as you will pass the Prestranek Castle estate and green meadows where Icelandic horses graze. The surface changes again. Cycling through the forest, past well-hidden former Italian bunkers and on macadam to the villages of Rakulik, Sajevče and Slavinje, leads again under the foot of Nanos to your destination in Razdrto.
