If you were fascinated by karst, then you will certainly want to find out why Postojna is the world centre of karstology – the scientific study of karst and karst phenomena. It all started with a humble local who discovered the most beautiful parts of the Postojna Cave and the hitherto unknown form of life in it, and it continues with the Karst Research Institute and the permanent exhibition Museum of Karst in the Notranjska Museum Postojna.
