Seven kilometers from Postojna, Prestranek Castle, a former branch of the Lipica stud farm, is located in pristine, idyllic nature, surrounded by numerous pastures, meadows and karst forests. The Prestranek Castle was already mentioned in 1581, it was built by the Edling barons from Vipava. Equestrianism has been present in this area for a long time, it appeared for the first time around 1699, and soon after it landed in the hands of the Inner-Austrian Emperor Karl VI. and his daughter Maria Theresa, who contributed a lot to the development of equestrianism on Slovenian soil.
Prestranek Castle has one of the largest and oldest covered riding stables in Slovenia and the largest riding school on Icelandic horses in Slovenia.
They offer individual and/or off-road riding on Icelandic horses, holiday riding camps, riding school, horse-assisted therapy, equestrian birthday parties for children, vacations and trips for children and students, becoming a horseman for a day, horse care and renting out riding surfaces.
The centre of the estate is Prestranek Castle, which is the only equestrian centre in Slovenia, where you can spend the night in six elegantly furnished apartments and pamper yourself in the Castle Inn with homemade house specialties from home-bred organic Angus hay beef.
