Postojna Cave is a home to more than 150 species of animals. A fragment of the typical fauna that developed in the extreme living conditions of the underground world can be seen in the Vivarium, where visitors can get familiar with the diversity of representatives of cave life.
The vivarium is located in the Trench of New Signatures, 50 meters from the entrance to the Postojna Cave. It consists of two parts. The research part, the so-called laboratory, serves scientific work and research. The speleobiological exhibition in the exhibition section presents to cave visitors the fundamental concepts of aesthetics and speleobiology, the peculiarities of the underground environment and the most common representatives of our cave animals.
Special attention is drawn to the most famous of them, the olm (Proteus anguinus).
The tour is especially recommended for those who want to learn more about the underground.
